DIY fun A4 garland

I saw this great idea of making a garland with A4 prints. So when my sister was having a party with an English theme, I knew I wanted to make this personalisable garland.

What you need:

  • Fabric. Cut into pieces which are at least 5 cm wider on all sides than the A4 paper.
  • A4 paper.
  • Images. I used images found on Pinterest but you could also use photos, which would be fun for an anniversary or birthday.
  • A stapler
  • Ruler and pencil
  • Ribbon.

Here is what you do:

  1. Print your images on white A4 paper. Sort the images by them being horizontal or vertical. I like to make two different garlands, one for the horizontal images and one for the vertical images.
  2. Measure 6 cm from the top and place your A4 image there. Use the stapler to staple the image to the fabric. By measuring the centimetres from the top you make sure all the images will be the same height.
  3. Decide in which order you want your images, and place them in this order. Now get your ribbon out, save 20 cm of ribbon for the beginning and end. Folding over the first 2 cm around your ribbon and staple the fabric to the ribbon. Separate the images by 2 cm to create a playful look.
  4. And voila your garland is finished.

What do you think of this garland?

DIY brownie gift

I made this DIY brownie gift as a 'thank you' to someone who helped me out. This is also a fun gift for a birthday or as 'get well' wish.

Here is what you will need:

  • Brownie in pieces
  • A fun popcorn basket (or any other kind of basket you like)
  • Gift tag
  • Some ribbon
  • Plastic foil

Here is what you do:

  • Put the brownies into the basket. Make sure the brownies are visible ove the edge.
  • Wrap the basket with some plastic foil. Add the ribon and gift tag.
  • Voila, your gift is ready!

British flag invitation

I turned 19 last week and had an awesome themed birthday party. The theme was the United Kingdom. It took us quite a while to come up with this theme, but when we did, the next thing we needed was an amazing invitation. We eventually came up with this idea and just thought it was too cute not to share this on our blog!

dsc_0629

Things you need:

  • British flags
  • Firm paper/cardboard
  • String

dsc_0626

What you do:

  1. Type out the text you want, we decided to make several cards to the invitation to make it more playful, but this is all up to you!
  2. Print the text(s) and punch a hole in the left top corner.
  3. Punch a hole in the flag and pull your strings through both loops.
  4. Tie a knot, put it in an envelop and you're done!

DIY confetti birthday invitation!

DIY this great birthday confetti invitation. My birthday is coming up so it was time to create a fun birthday invitation. I saw this idea on Pinterest and decided to recreate this. I loved how fun, different and surprising it is.

DSC_0696

Here is what you need for the invitations:

  • Plastic bags
  • Red thread
  • 200 grams of confetti
  • Envelopes
  • Small notes saying open me
  • Small birthday invitations

DSC_0698

Preparations of the confetti birthday invitations:

Create little notes with your birthday invitations and a open me message. They can be as small or as little as you would like. Just keep in mind that you have to be able to hide the invitation in the confetti. Once you have created these invitations, print them out and cut them.

Fill the plastic bags with confetti. Fold the birthday invitation into a little note. Hide the birthday invitation within your confetti. Tie the bag shut with the red thread and tie the open me note to this. Put the bags into a fun envelope and sent it out!

How to grow your hair fast & healthy.

In this post I will show you 20 tips & tricks on how to grow your hair faster and still keep it healthy. I wanted my hair to be way longer a few years ago and throughout the years I've learned a lot about growing hair, while trying to let it stay it healthy. I decided to keep the explanations short in order to make this post easier to read. However, if you would like more information about why the tip or trick works so well, just use your friend Google and he’ll help you out. I promise.

DSC_0639

Inside Out

The easiest tips & tricks, which are also very good for your overall health, are about focusing on what goes inside your body. Because – let’s face it – what you put inside of you, will eventually show from the outside.

1. Drink enough WATER.

Your body consists of a lot of water, which means it’ll need water to keep your body & hair hydrated and healthy.

2. Eat HEALTHY.

Again: what goes into your body will reflect on the outside. If your diet gives you a lot of protein & vitamins, your hair will grow faster and look healthier.

3. Use hair-boosting VITAMINS.

If you aren’t getting enough of certain vitamins and can’t seem to get enough from food, eat some extra vitamins.

4.EXERCISE.

Exercising will get more blood flowing, which helps your hair get more nutrients.

5. Keep your STRESS level low.

Stress will cause more hairs to fall out of your head.

The shower

6. DON’T shampoo your hair often.

Washing your hair will remove the natural fats. At first you’ll notice that your hair gets oily quickly, but the longer you wait with washing it every time, the less you’ll need to!

7. Use CONDITIONER (more often than shampoo).

Makes sure to skip the scalp while conditioning, because it’ll make the hair oily & grease more easily.

8. MASSAGE your scalp.

This will get the blood flowing, which (again) allows your hair to get more nutrients.

9. Finish with COLD water.

Rinsing your hair with cold water will give it a nicer feel and make it looks shiny.

10. Don’t put your wet hair in a TOWEL.

This will destroy your hair because of the rough texture. Instead of a towel, you can use a t-shirt.

11. Don’t brush your hair when it’s WET.

You will only pull out hair while brushing it when it’s wet.

12. Don’t use heat when your hair is WET.

I hope I don’t even have to explain this. Seriously, this is so bad for your hair.

DSC_0813

Please, be kind to your hair

13. Tie your hair at DIFFERENT places.

If you tie your hair at the same place a lot, your hair will break and grow out at those places.

14. Avoid really tight hairstyles.

Especially ones that hurt, it’s your body telling you that it’s not good for your hair.

15. Minimize HEAT.

Of course you won’t use heat when your hair is wet (right?!), but you should also minimize the use on dry hair. Using heat on your hair will sort of literally BURN your hair, and I think we can all agree that that doesn’t sound healthy.

16. Minimize things like COLOURING.

Same goes for things like painting your hair. I mean, you’re putting all these chemicals in your hair, it’s logical your hair will be dried out and will fall out.

17. Minimize brushing.

If you do brush your hair: start at the bottom and work your way up. This gradually detangles hair. Also: use a wide-toothed comb.

18. Sleep on a silk PILLOWCASE (instead of a cotton one).

Silk is sweeter to your hair. It can avoid breakage and damage, as well as tangles.

19. Make sure to get your hair CUT.

Wait, what? Yes, you heard that right, don’t skip the trims. Split ends will travel up your strands, which means: the longer you wait for a cut, the more you’ll have to cut.

20. If you REALLY want it to grow fast, you can use this TRICK:

Heat up 2-4 tablespoons of (coconut) oil in the microwave for 20 seconds. Really massage the hot oil into your scalp. Hang your head upside down, so more blood will flow to your scalp. Do this for about 4 minutes. You can either: rinse out the oil (preferably with cold water) or keep it in with a maximum of 2 hours. If you repeat this trick every day, for a week, your hair will grow 3-4 inches.

The not so great thing about this method: it will make your hair look oily, which will make you want to wash it more often.

What do you do to keep your hair healthy and growing faster?

An easy and quick updo within 5 minutes!

Gift wrapping in old newspapers

There's nothing better then giving gifts. My uncle's and grandma's birthdays were coming up and I wanted to give them something special. As being the photographer of the family I have an archive full of great pictures off the whole family. I came across a discount for framed photo's at 'Herinnnering op Linnen' which is my favorite shop for ordering canvases, because their prizes and quality are great. And now they also offered framed photos.

DSC_1078

I ordered two framed photos with different frames. I loved the quality and there is honestly nothing better then a correctly framed picture.

DSC_1079

Here is what you need for wrapping your gift with old newspaper:

  • A stack of old newspapers (I got these from my dad, who saved them to make the puzzels, which he never did of course  :P)
  • Ribbons of your choosing
  • Tape
  • A cute gift tag (Which you can find on Pinterest)

DSC_1081

What to do:

Wrap the present to your liking. Write a happy birthday message on you gift tag. Attach the ribbon and the tag to the gift!

You're now ready to steal the show with your present!

An easy and quick updo within 5 minutes!

This is my go-to updo, it literally takes less than 5 minutes to make and it will look like you put in a lot of work. The way you style this updo is totally up to you, you can get crazy with hairclips or weird shapes, try some stuff out!

If you can do a normal Dutch braid, this is the best updo ever. If you can't do a normal Dutch braid yet, I will explain it in the video, so no worries!

The updo is the easiest if you have longer hair. But, if you have short hair, you can just tuck the end of the braid under the rest of the braid and it will still look awesome!

All you need:

– A small (clear) elastic

– Some bobby pins

How to make the best DIY pillow cases!

Don’t you just love these pillow cases above?! Thank god they are only 35 euro’s… wait, what? That's a lot of money that you could also save… or spend on chocolate, you know, whatever you prefer.

I will show you how you can easily make these pillows yourself in 3 steps for less then 10 euro’s/dollars (pillow cases included)! (Rather buy the pillows? Get them here)

The great thing about this DIY is that you can print whatever you want on the pillows. You can make it for a friend, love, family or pretty much anyone else. Everybody needs pillow cases to sleep 😉

I made Star Wars (Darth Vader & Stormtrooper) pillow cases for my boyfriend. The result:

DSC_0390

He absolutely loved them!

What you need:

– Two white pillow cases

– (T-shirt) Transfer paper

– A printer

– A flatiron

What to do:

1. Print your image/print/saying on the transfer paper. Make sure your print is a Word-file so it is in A-4 format (same format as the transfer paper).

2. Cut out as much of the white surroundings as you can, because the white parts will become yellow (in time).

3. Iron the image/print/saying onto the pillow (any specific instructions will be on the transfer paper package). Make sure you iron it on the exact place you want it to be on.
